2006 pilgrimage included stops in Worcester and Albany. We love it when they play the East and Northeast Regionals close enough for us to catch parts of both tournaments. Surprisingly, the games were not close. BU walloped Nebraska-Omaha 9-2, BC shut out Miami of Ohio 5-0 and then BC blanked BU 5-0. The BU-BC game was the match up everyone wanted, but BC dominated.
In Albany, Michigan State beat UNH 1-0 although the game didn't seem that close. We only caught the first period of the Maine - Harvard tilt as we had to get back to Worcester for the BU-BC match on Saturday night. Maine lead 2-1 when we left and wound up pounding Harvard 6-1. Maine then went on to beat Michigan State 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. Michigan State did well to close the gap late in the game, but Maine was outstanding.
Bob G. offered up the Suburban and kept it just under 80 mph in getting us to the games on time. John joined us after being away from the action for the last 2 years. He's hardcore so we were happy to have him back.
Justin, Buck, James, Julie and I went early on Friday to Worcester and roamed around the Hockey Expo. Julie gave blood in exchange for a puck from Bob Sweeney (ex-Bruin), I introduced the boys to Hall of Fame defenseman Brad Park, and told Lyndon Byers John would be by later in the afternoon to duke it out with him. The Expo was a great showcase for all the hockey nuts in this world - we are card carrying members!
